TROY J. MULLER is an Omaha-based painter and sculptor, and is the co-founder and Art Director of New Century Art Guild, Inc., a non-profit arts organization that supports veterans seeking new careers in creative arts. He currently teaches Visual Art classes at Metro Community College in Omaha and serves as an individual instructor for the Department of VA’s Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. Muller has also taught at the Joslyn Museum and Iowa Western Community College. He draws inspiration from the techniques and crafts of past masters and fuses them with contemporary issues that are important to him. He approaches art like an archeologist in reverse: he takes familiar, known objects from the present–some that are imbued with personal or collective memory–and represents them as mysterious relics of the past., leaving viewers to interpret their meaning. Muller is represented by Modern Arts Midtown Gallery in Omaha. He received a BFA from Kansas City Art Institute and an MFA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
